Agents Commission

South Africa currently has about 36 000 registered estate agents operating within its borders, of which no doubt all are attracted to the handsome average commission of 7.5 per cent

In comparison to other countries, South African estate agents charge amongst the highest commissions on property sales in the world. Compared to the United States, and the United Kingdom's  average commission of around 2% or less, South African agents charge varied commissions of around 7.5 per cent plus Value Added Tax (VAT), which is invariably paid by the seller.
